THE FORTITUDE NOW FOUNDATION RECEIVES A GRANT TO ASSIST STUDENTS DISPLACED BY COVID-19

PHOENIX, Arizona (4/6/2020)- The Fortitude Now Foundation received a grant from the Arizona COVID-19 Community Response Fund, a component of the Arizona Community Foundation. The Fortitude Now Foundation is looking for help identifying students displaced during the pandemic and needing transitional assistance. **Applicants must be currently enrolled college students who are either Arizona permanent residents or students enrolled in an Arizona college/university.

Grant requests for support (i.e. moving expenses, airfare, ride shares, bus tickets, gas/mileage, storage, food, and transitional housing costs) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Foundation directly for more information.

Brenda Norwood, the Foundation’s Treasurer, said “These funds will be used to assist Arizona virus-displaced students navigate their next steps as colleges and universities close and restrict campus housing. Although we have helped some students reunite with family, this grant will allow us to reach many more.


The Fortitude Now Foundation is an Arizona registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised primarily of college educated women of color. The Foundation exists to improve the lives of the underserved by ensuring access to quality education through exposure, engagement, fund raising and scholarship. The Foundation operates by identifying community and individual opportunities and providing programming, volunteering and financial support.
